How to Use the Livestock Stocking Rate Calculator

Step 1: Enter Livestock Numbers

Input the number of animals in each category, such as dairy cows, beef cattle of various ages, and sheep. The tool automatically calculates the total livestock stocking units (LSU).

Step 2: Set Grazing Platform Size

Enter the size of the grazing platform in either acres or hectares. The tool will convert between the two if needed.

Step 3: View Grazing Stocking Results

The calculator displays the stocking rate per acre and per hectare, helping you assess if your grazing platform is sufficient.

Step 4: Reverse Engineer for Desired Stocking Rates

If you have a target stocking rate per hectare, input the total livestock units and the desired rate to calculate the required grazing area.
